MANDURAH 2010 FAIR

 Stamp, Coin and Banknote Fair

Friday 19 November to

Sunday 21 November 2010

The Australasian Numismatic Challenge is a competitive coin and banknote exhibition organised by the Peel Region Numismatic Group, based in Mandurah, Western Australia.

The Challenge is an opportunity for coin and banknote collectors to display some of their treasured items at a national level and compete for the prizes on offer.  This first time event will be held as part of the biennial Mandurah Stamp, Coin and Banknote Fair in November 2010, co-hosted with the Mandurah Philatelic Society (Inc.).

 ZONES

The Challenge is a team event, with one team of six people for each of the nine zones:

Zone 1

Western Australia

Zone 2

South Australia & Northern Territory

Zone 3

Tasmania

Zone 4

Victoria

Zone 5

New South Wales

Zone 6

The team for each zone is to comprise five Adults and one Youth member (Youth members must be under 18 years old at the time of the Challenge).

Each zone will nominate the five + one exhibits that are to be entered for their zone’s participation in the Challenge.  The five + one exhibits from a zone are each to be on a different topic / theme.  However, entries from different zones may be on the same topic / theme as one or more other zones.

An entry fee of $35 applies per Adult entry; there is no charge for Youth entries.

EVALUATION & PRIZES

Each team member submits a display entry (coins or banknotes) that follows a theme of his or her choice.  The jury will evaluate each entry and award points out of a total of 100.  Prizes will be awarded according to the total points received, with every entrant receiving a certificate.  Exhibits awarded 55 points or more will also receive a medal.

Points awarded to each team member will then be added together to make a team total, which is also the zone total.  The zone with the highest number of points wins the Australasian Numismatic Challenge Trophy.

The jury will evaluate each entry according to the following nine criteria:
